Naltar village is 40 km from Gilgit and can be reached by jeeps. It is a forested (pine) village known for its wildlife and magnificent mountain scenery. The trek is not too physically demanding and offers an additional aspect of a profound nature walk. It involves walking through flowery meadows, lakes and quite spectacular greenery. The route also passes through a lush forest of cedar, pine and birch. It therefore offers something more diverse in terms of landscape and has more than the usual share of scenic beauty. The first trek will be to Naltar lake, which is based in Naltar valley. The lake is cystal clear and one can see to its base. It is a famous spot for picnics.
Day 1 – Reach Gilgit
Day 2 – Trek to Naltar Lake
Day 3 – Trek to Lower Shani/Upper Shani
Day 4 – Trek back to Bala
